The Gujarat government has decided to postpone the notification regarding the reduction in the grade pay of primary teachers in the state, which was made almost a year ago.

Giving this information on Friday, Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that after his meeting with the representatives of the agitating Gujarat Primary Teachers Union and Gujarat Educational Federation, he had discussed the matter with Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Rupani has decided to postpone the notification till a policy decision is taken in this case. With this, primary teachers will continue to get grade pay of Rs. 4200 again. He assured that the government would not allow any loss in teachers’ salaries.
It is known that the teachers had first protested against the reduction in grade pay through rallies etc. and later opened a front against the government on social media in the wake of the Corona crisis. He claimed that with this reduction, each teacher was getting around Rs one lakh less in salary in a year.
